Port Townsend to Port Angeles

The ride from Port Townsend to Port Angeles is delightful as there is a good bit of dedicated bike path, especially as you enter Port Angeles. In addition to that, there are plenty of side roads to avoid Highway 101.

The Discovery Bike Trail starts just after Blyn, which is also a good place to grab snacks. There’s a big grocery store at the gas station. You can also stop for lunch in Sequim (pronounced Squim; not sure why, just is).

Once you get to Port Angeles, you can head directly to Victoria, but I prefer to spend the night in Port Angeles as it’s a quaint little town. If you have an extra time and day, you can even ride up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. From the top you’ll feel like you’re in Switzerland!

It’s best to make reservations in advance for the Victoria ferry, and don’t forget your passport. Follow the signs for bikes (you board with passengers) when arriving at the ferry dock. The is a large ferry across a significant crossing before continuing on north to Sidney or Salt Spring Island: The Straight of Juan de Fuca.
