This is a fairly relaxing riding day. Once you’re ready to leave your comfortable accommodations, you continue your northward route to Courtenay, where you’ll catch the ferry to Powell River. The ride is fairly rural. I stopped in Fanny Bay for a coffee at Weinberg’s Good Food before continuing on to Courtenay.
There’s a nice bike path on your way into town. Check the ferry schedule to decide how much time you’ll need to kill in town. The Vancouver Island Regional Library at Comox has fireplaces where you can enjoy a coffee and free internet while waiting for the ferry.
The ferry trip across the Georgia Straight is beautiful and it drops you just minutes from the Powell River Harbour Guesthouse & Hostel. You plan a meal out or grab some food to cook at Save-On-Foods.
Keep in mind the ferry terminal is 6 miles and 200 feet of climbing from downtown Courtenay so be sure to give yourself enough time to get there.
The next day, you’ll continue on to Secret Cove.
